An important task of the German paper industry has it always been to promote and train the own junior staff. Only well trained and qualified employees ensure the success and the future of an industrial enterprise.

We offer at the site of Gelsenkirchen young males and females, in addition to the training to become industrial clerks, favourable development chances and possibilities through the training to become technical paper specialists with excellent forward-looking perspectives.

Technical paper specialist

In the course of a three-year dual training course in the specialized field “Paper, Cardboard”, the practical training takes place in our plant. The theoretical training takes place in the paper making school in Gernsbach / Baden-Württemberg (approximately 16 weeks per year), inclusive staying at the boarding school at that place.

What is called a turbo class enables participants to shorten the training to two years.

The prerequisite in this case is the school-leaving certificate or the certificate to attend a university of applied sciences, or another already completed professional training. Technical paper specialists can be employed in all sectors of production after having completed their studies.

Fields of training in the course of training for a technical paper specialist:

  • Raw materials, fibres and auxiliary materials
  • Manufacturing processes in production
  • Controlling production processes
  • Quality assuring measures
  • Water supplies and waste water removal
  • Storage and transport
  • Maintenance
  • Handling information and communication technology
  • Training in social competences in the fields of team work, cooperation, information exchange
  • and many others

Studying to become a paper engineer

The Papierfabrik Fritz Peters GmbH & Co. KG has offered since 2002 also the possibility to apply for a place to study to become a paper engineer at the Professional Academy in Karlsruhe . This dual study course combines a scientific studying with a practical training in the manufacturing plant. The practical and theoretical training is carried out at almost equal parts in an alternative sequence. In this way, it is possible to apply the theoretical knowledge directly in practice. The studies comprise six semesters and do not include any semester vacations. The prerequisite in this case is the general school-leaving certificate. After completion of the studies, there are numerous possibilities to become employed in the fields of production, research and development, environmental protection, etc.
